I hope you caught the Stand Up 2 Cancer special on the television yesterday! It was very touching and full of amazing performances. Since my family is currently dealing with cancer it definitely hit home. If you missed it or would like to see it again you can buy the entire show on iTunes which of course benefits Stand Up 2 Cancer! Some facts that stood out to me were:

  1. 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime
  2. 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime
  3. 4000 people are diagnosed with cancer everyday
  4. A person dies every minute from cancer

If you would like to donate and didn’t do so last night feel free to visit the website standup2cancer.org where you can also buy apparel, jewelry, and accessories like this sweet bag:

Another neat idea is launching a star for a loved one, you can donate as little as $1. The best part is that family and friends can add their own messages!

As you can see there are many different ways to lend your support, you don’t even have to donate just spreading the word is helping out. On a personal note, my father’s family has been greatly affected by cancer. Many of his tias have passed away or are currently battling cancer. Unfortunately one of his aunts was recently told she had little time to live, when I was fundraising for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer she gave one of the biggest donations. As I am typing I’m nearly in tears :/ but I am sure you all know at least one person who has or is currently battling cancer, together we can Stand Up 2 Cancer!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, Happy Saturday!

  1. Sadly, I missed the special as I am without cable TV; however, I am always in full support of anything regarding the fight against cancer – what a wonderful cause!! 🙂

My husband’s family has been greatly affected by cancer! Even his cousin died suddenly and tragically at 22 years old of leukemia…no one knew! Awareness is key and you’re right…any little bit helps. My prayers go out to your tia. xoxo
